5 Hot Golf Courses To Play in Sydney

October 12th, 2018.

The city of Sydney in New South Wales  is one of Australia’s finest producers of golf courses. Whether it be the private courses of New South Wales Golf Club and the like to the more public accessible yet picturesque  St. Michael’s on the coast, you will never be disappointed.

The Sweet Spot has come up with 5 of the hottest golf courses you should look to play this summer, including both private and public access courses.

Whether these are local for you, or whether you are looking for a great destination for your next golf trip, they are worth the time.

New South Wales Golf Club

La Perouse, NSW

NSW Golf Club is a wonderful combination of undulating fairways, beautiful scenic vistas and a spectacular clubhouse which is a magnificent combination of traditional architecture and five star comfort.

Shortly after its 1928 opening, an edition of ‘Golf in Australia’ magazine described NSW as needing ‘only the improving hand of time to become the acme of perfection’. The hand of time has indeed improved this masterpiece and though it is unlikely any course is the absolute ‘acme of perfection’, NSW Golf Club gets about as close as any in Australia.

This inspiring layout is bounded by water on three sides and has many of the characteristics of true links golf. Magnificently wild and exposed, the entire course offers tremendous views and a series of stunning holes built around, over and through the hills and valleys that lead toward the coastline. The course has undulating fairways and small greens which call for great skill in shot making when the sea breezes blow.

St. Michael’s Golf Club

Little Bay, NSW

St. Michael’s Golf Club is a spectacular course at a reasonable rate. giving you access to a rolling links layout and ocean views that evoke thoughts of Scotland’s famous St. Andrew’s, with NSW’s local scenery adding to the charm.

Opposed to its neighbouring private courses, St. Michael’s offers forgiving wide fairways, which allows the average golfer to have a crack without losing too many balls.

The majority of the course is covered by natural bush on both sides of its fairways. The breezes from the ocean can also have a very big impact on your swing, and therefore accurate straight driving is vital.
